British Catholics, Pope Francis pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

Catholics in the U.K. paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II following her death Sept. 8 and the end of a reign that lasted more than 70 years. Pope Francis sent a telegram addressed "To His Majesty the King, Charles III," her son who immediately ascended to the throne.

Bishops say UK punishes asylum-seekers by sending them to Rwanda

The U.K. government is unfairly punishing English Channel migrants for the crimes of human traffickers by sending the migrants to Rwanda to have asylum applications processed, said the English and Welsh bishops.

English police to allow priests to give last rites at crime scenes

Police in England have produced national guidelines to allow priests to give last rites to Catholics dying at crime scenes. The change follows the outcry by Catholics at the denial of permission to administer the sacrament of the anointing of the sick to Sir David Amess, a Catholic politician, after he was stabbed repeatedly in an attack Oct. 15.
