Defending Wal-Mart (weakly)

At CNN Money, Nina Easton defends Wal-Mart and blames the new minimum wage law on "unions more attuned to their own self-interest than the futures of low-income workers."

Don't you just love it when the self-interest of the corporation is applauded but the self-interest of a union is seen as the root of all evil? And, in the event, unions are trying every day to make sure there are fewer "low-income workers" even while Wal-Mart is trying to make more of them every day. If the best our economy can do by the poor folk of DC is Wal-Mart, maybe we should not be questioning the unions. Maybe we should be questioning everything.
