In yesterday's Washington Post, Carlos Lozada on two books that display the left's disappointment with Obama. Lozada nails it: The meritocracy of the "creative classes" dominates the worldview of those who surround this, or any, president. The problem is solipsism.

Here is the text of Archbishop Blase Cupich's sermon at Chicago's St. Patrick's Mass. A friend who was in attendance said that, after the archbishop spoke about the need to cultivate friendship and concern for the common good, the governor left his seat on the far Epistle side of the church at the passing of the peace, and went round to the Speaker of the Illinois House, on the far left of the Gospel side of the church. That does not mean that a compromise will be found in Springfield anytime soon, but it's a start.

Speaking of Chicago, Sen. Bernie Sanders took a cheap shot at Mayor Rahm Emanuel. What does the Vermont senator know that puts him in a position to judge the job the mayor is doing? This was a purely political ploy, aiming at garnering support from Emanuel's opponents. Politico has the story.
