Less than a fortnight after the USCCB adopted a new version of "Faithful Citizenship" that really, really encourages Catholics to vote Republican, the conservative political right has proven the old adage that no good deed goes unpunished. Breitbart, the clearinghouse for political conservatism's latest ideas and news, suggests that the Church is not helping refugees out of obedience to the Word of God. We are in it for the money. Every time I want to give up on Democrats or on liberals, I am reminded why I can't.

In Texas, the bishops stand up to Gov. Abbott on the issue of accepting Syrian refugees, according to this report in the Austin American Statesman. Those leftie bishops down in Texas are at it again!

Best video from the pope's trip to Africa: While waiting for the pope to arrive, bishops join young people in a joyful dance (go to 5:50 in the video). I am wondering if the USCCB might try this next year and, if so, if that would constitute evidence of "regime change"?
