NYTimes on Immigration

The editors at The New York Times yesterday exposed the ways the anti-GOP rhetoric on immigration undercuts other GOP rhetoric on making government more efficient, less intrusive and less expensive.

The Times does not even note the primary factual difficulty with all the ranting about border security: It doesn't work because many undocumented immigrants enter the country perfectly legally, with a valid visa, but then overstay their visa.

Nor does The Times engage the profound moral arguments that demand action to help unite immigrant families, many of whom have different legal status within them.

But pointing out the ways the GOP anti-immigration stance is idiotic, as well as immoral, is doing the Lord's work, so hats off to The Times.
