CRS to get new president

Catholic Relief service announced today that CRS President Ken Hackett, who has led the development and relief agency since 1993, will retire in January 2012. The CRS board of directors have begun a search for Hackett's replacement.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES BEGINS LEADERSHIP TRANSITION

Next President to Begin Serving in January 2012

Baltimore, MD, Sept. 29, 2010 Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan, Chairman of the Board for Catholic Relief Services, announced today that the agency will begin a search for a successor to Ken Hackett, who will retire after leading CRS since 1993.

Archbishop Dolan said that a committee comprised of CRS Board members will conduct a nationwide search for a successor to Mr. Hackett with a goal of installing the next president by January 2012. Mr. Hackett has agreed to continue serving as president for six months beyond the expiration of his current five-year term in June 2011. He will serve beyond that as a consultant until July 2012 to assist in the transition to new leadership.
