New York magazine on \"The Archbishop of Charm\"

Interesting, breezy profile of New York's new archbishop, Timothy Dolan, in New York magazine cleverly titled, "The Archbishop of Charm."

Dolan is true to his reputation as a master "glad hander and back slapper," with all the predictable self-deprecation and good-guy-not-quite-comfortable-with-the-uniformed-butler humor.

But writer Robert Kolker, who presses Dolan on questions of same-sex relationships and same-sex marriage, comes to an essential question: "In choosing Timothy Dolan for the critical New York post," he writes, "Rome has picked someone who is, if nothing else, an expert message-deliverer, blending the spotlight-loving tendencies of an O'Connor with all of the warmth and approachability that Egan lacked. But if you can't alter the content of the message, is the deliery enough?"
