Catholic Charities USA president Fr. Larry Snyder has announced his resignation effective Jan. 31, 2015, according to a Tuesday press release from CCUSA.
Snyder is leaving to accept the position of vice president at the University of St. Thomas, based in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minn. Snyder, a1987 alumnus, will be “responsible for furthering the university’s mission of educating students ‘to be morally responsible leaders who think critically, act wisely, and work skillfully to advance the common good,” the press release stated.
CCUSA will be launching a national search for Snyder’s replacement. Snyder served as president of the organization since 2005 and is “largely responsible for expanding the organization’s role as a key thought leader and national advocate for policies aimed at lifting Americans out of poverty,” according to the press release. Before CCUSA, he was the executive director of Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
