Washington, DC's Gonzaga (Catholic) High School sophomore scores 80-yard goal, full-field lacrosse goal

From the Huffington Post:

Gonzaga College High School sophomore Matt Borda was just trying to kill some time off the clock in the final minute of Monday’s Washington Catholic Athletic Conference boys' lacrosse championship game against Good Counsel.

Instead, he ended the game by scoring an unbelievable full-field goal to give his school their second consecutive conference title.

With 20 seconds left in regulation and Gonzaga holding on to a one-goal lead, Borda launched an 80-yard pass deep into Good Counsel's zone. But the defense was not prepared and the ball found the back of the net to give Gonzaga a 10-8 lead.

"We had about 20 seconds left on the clock and we were a man down," coach Casey O’Neill said. "We wanted to kill time and send it back to the other end of the field. No one expected that to happen."
