Lefebvrite bishop appeals Holocaust-denying conviction

Richard Williamson, the Society of St. Pius X (Lefebvrites) bishop convicted last year in a German court for denying the Holocaust, has begun an appeal against that conviction. Williams is a British citizen.

His defense? He says:

  1. He was tricked into saying the comments by a TV interviewer.

  2. He was asked "leading questions" which led him to make the comments over which he was convicted.

  3. He did not think his comments would be aired in Germany, where denying the Holocaust is a criminal offense.
